PocketGym — What’s New
Everything that has changed in PocketGym, newest first.
Spotter is now PocketGym
30 September 2026
- Same app, same saves, new name. Your account, workouts, plan and history are where you left them, and you sign in the same way.
- A new icon: Pumpy, on ochre. Look for PocketGym on your Home Screen and in the share sheet.
- Spotter Plus is now PocketGym Plus. If you subscribe, nothing changes and there is nothing to do.
Pumpy stays with you
Version 0.12 · 6 September 2026
- Pumpy keeps giving a quiet blink while his greeting is on screen. It pauses when you leave or cover the page, and respects Reduce Motion and Little animations.
- “Ask Pumpy about this workout” now shows the workout attached beside your message box. It stays selected even if an older chat finishes loading afterward.
A warmer welcome, a calmer coach
Version 0.11 · 6 September 2026
- New here? Three short, skippable steps show how to save, find your workouts and open Pumpy. Replay them from the Quick guide whenever you like.
- Pumpy has more expression: thoughtful while planning, pleased after a workout, and relaxed against the rack when you meet him.
- A small blink and smoother wing movement play once, then settle. Reduce Motion and the Little animations setting keep everything still.
- Help rows expand smoothly, tips dismiss without a jump, and the introduction keeps its buttons in place between steps.
Meet your coach
Version 0.10 · 6 September 2026
- Pumpy has a new look, with illustrated poses for getting started, planning and finishing a session.
- A little help where you need it: short, dismissible tips for saving, exercise options, logging, planning and Pumpy’s workout picker.
- A quiet wing movement at a finish, then stillness. Reduce Motion is respected, and Settings lets you turn Pumpy’s tips and animations off.
- Settings → Pumpy → Quick guide brings the help back whenever you want it.
- Saving a preference now preserves other saved settings.
Handcrafted, not generated
Version 0.9 · 2 September 2026
- Every emoji standing in for an icon is gone. PocketGym now has a drawn icon set that looks the same on an iPhone as it does on a Pixel, and that a screen reader can name.
- Deleting a session, a collection or an exercise can be undone. Nothing is actually removed until the message offering the undo has gone.
- When something goes wrong, PocketGym says what failed and what to do about it instead of “could not do that”.
- Fixed: a session finished in the evening could tick the wrong day on your plan if you live far enough from London. The plan now uses your own calendar day.
- Pull to refresh tells you what it found — how many workouts came in, or that you were already up to date.
- The Progress figures count up when you open the tab, and the numbers stop jittering as they change.
- Every button now shows a focus ring when you tab to it with a keyboard.
- Pumpy’s three dots move while it is thinking, instead of sitting there.
- A quieter set of small labels throughout, and this page, a version number and a way to report something wrong at the bottom of Settings.
Swipe between tabs, and a workout worth opening in a gym
2 September 2026
- The four tabs are one surface you can swipe between, with the titles and the tab bar moving with your finger rather than jumping when a screen swaps.
- Workout Mode gained a rest timer you can pause, extend or skip; a “watch the clip” button for when the name of a movement is not enough; and a session summary at the end with your time, sets, volume and anything you beat.
- The Library answers “what am I doing today” at the top of the screen, and the creator of a video is now something you can filter by.
Share straight to PocketGym, and let it watch the video
2 September 2026
- On Android, install PocketGym and it appears in the share sheet: send any video to it without opening the app. On iPhone the Shortcut is still the route.
- Some creators say the workout out loud, or write it on the screen, and put none of it in the caption. PocketGym can now listen to the video, and read what is written in it.
- Continue with Google and Continue with Apple, without being thrown out of the app to a browser and back.
- Every screen arrives and leaves on purpose, the light colours were brought up to the AA contrast standard, and reduced-motion settings are honoured throughout.
Pumpy, the coach
1 September 2026
- A coach that can see what you have saved, what you have planned and what you have logged. It can build a workout, add to one or plan your week — and shows you what it wants to do before anything is saved.
- An anatomical body map: what a workout hits, and what you have hit this week.
- Ask for a swap when the equipment is missing, the station is busy, or something hurts, and get honest trade-offs rather than a list.
- Collections, renaming, and the ability to correct an exercise PocketGym got wrong.
- Upload a video you already saved and PocketGym will listen to it.
- History moved into Progress, which freed a tab.
The first version
31 August 2026
- Paste a link to a TikTok, Instagram reel or YouTube video and PocketGym reads the exercises, sets and reps out of it.
- Workout Mode: one movement at a time, logging what you lift, with what you did last time already filled in.
- A week view for planning, and a Progress tab for volume, records and streaks.
